Communication
Ideas that emerged from statements such as:
  • In what ways might we improve communication throughout the Archdiocese?
  • In what ways might we promote inclusion with better communication?
  • In what ways might we be better informed?
  • Use of web site
  • Update technology - maximize all methods
  • Obtain electronic contributions - get into the future
  • Establish an Archdiocese hotline to chat with diocese to become one community in kindness, understanding and love
  • Publish youth activities (also on Web)
  • Make media facilities available
  • Improvement of communication, inter-diocesan and across the country - Bishop to Bishop (plus diocesan administration) to pastoral councils (the grassroots)
  • Local communication improvement also, not just Archdiocese, not just priests, but all of us
  • Use phone trees (home/school/parish)
  • All of us encourage communication between the elderly and young to promote understanding
  • Lay people need more information, consistently
  • Personal communication to promote understanding, involvement and growth
  • List Catholic Internet sites that parents/students can access
  • Mass on T.V.
  • Tune in to E.W.T.N. (Eternal Word Television Network)
  • Have parish networks
  • Information communication received on time
  • Publish all necessary information in the bulletin of the parish
  • When changes occur, consult the parishes, inform, explain. Example: reconciliation changes
  • Improve dialogue with church hierarchy
  • Decentralization
  • Know how decisions are made
  • When the parish makes a decision, the Diocese should support and follow through
  • Letters to the priest only don't seem to be successful in getting information out to everyone
  • Have clear direction from Archdiocese
  • Remove the double standard in the Church
  • Quit apologizing.
  • Work together with common goal
  • Have a consistent message from all Clergy
  • Regain respect for the Clergy
  • Be consistent
  • One person on parish council to write to Bishop regularly - explaining needs, celebrations
  • Keep people informed
  • Listen to the laity - when a priest needs to be disciplined - parishioners know their priests
  • Parish priests work hard with schools. Be more viable, accessible
  • Empower our bishops to speak out publicly on topical issues
  • We should get to know people in the Archdiocese to remove feeling of remoteness
  • Clarification of Reconciliation - form - promote
  • General Absolution is good for most - some priests do this, some do not
