Rural and Urban
Ideas that emerged from statements such as:
  • In what ways might we encourage equality throughout the Archdiocese?
  • In what ways might we ensure that all needs of parishioners are met?
  • Twin a rural and an urban parish for support and networking
  • Programs brought to local, rural communities. Have these programs go 'on the road'
  • Wealthy to poor church partnerships
  • When our rural parishes become non-sustainable, we will hold church services in our homes. Our population is aging and unable to travel.
  • Ensure funding for all
  • Equal treatment of all parishes in Archdiocese
  • Bishops listen to local concerns
  • Traveling to John Paul II Centre is too far - take services to rural
  • Rural areas be given support in educating youth. There are no separate schools in some rural areas. Religious instruction courses should be made available for parents to use
  • Rural church affected by agriculture. Pressure political realm so as to give incentive to young to remain on the land
  • Encourage visits from the Diocesan office once a year at each rural parish
  • Establish a rural commission in the Diocesan office to deal with rural issues
  • Lay team exchange between rural and urban parishes
  • Reintroduce Form Three (Reconciliation) for rural parishes
  • Bring educators to communities
