November 14, 2007 Update
We are presently compiling final report recommendations of parish transformations for each Deanery in the Diocese. An overall pastoral plan will be presented at the November meetings of the Archdiocesan Pastoral Council and Priests Council.
Message From the Vision Quest Chairperson - May 2007
To all pastors and pastoral ministers:
Please be reminded that we are well into the second phase of the consultation with regard to parish transformations wherein the priests were to meet with their respective parish pastoral councils to evaluate the state of viability and vitality of their parish.
Recommendations were then to be forwarded to the office of the archbishop or to the attention of the Vision Quest committee at the diocesan office. The Vision Quest committee will be meeting on May
22 to compile these recommendations and put them into a report to be forwarded to each of the deaneries so that the various Deanery Pastoral Councils can make their final recommendations to the diocese by the end of June.
While a number of parishes will be looking at some form of transformation that will affect their present mode of operation, others may not be directly affected. However, for these parishes it might be important to report what resources they may be willing to offer or share with neighbouring smaller parishes. These could be either in terms of facilities or human resources.
Included in our report to the deaneries, the Vision Quest committee would like to put forward some of its ideas of what a reinvigorated deanery area might look like and how it might function as an effective evangelizing unit within the archdiocese.
We thank the pastors and the pastoral councils who have submitted their reports and recommendations and strongly urge those who haven’t to do so before May 22.
Thank you for your kind attention.
