Bonding Together for a Brighter Future IX: Encounter and Dialogue With Cuernavaca, Mexico The application process for this 2010 - 2011 project closed in April. Here is some information for future projects. Applications are for interested adults and students who are currently in Grade 10 and up. Applications are also open to persons who have participated in a previous Cuernavaca project and who wish to be leaders. The project began as a means of linking with the Center for Encounters and Dialogues, Charles Halpin House in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. To celebrate the 25th anniversary to the priesthood, the late Archbishop Charles Halpin gave the gifts of money he received to the then Bishop of the state of Morelos – Mendes Arceo – to found a center where the poor of the diocese could continue to meet. Bishop Mendes Arceo knew that the Bishop’s offices would not be available to the people after his retirement. The projects have taught us much about the people, the politics and the culture of Mexico. They have resulted in very energized youth in our diocese! Youth and Adult applications are available. The Archdiocese of Regina has been involved in our project since the beginning. If you require more information, please contact Bernadette Kutarna at 525-0049.
