Message from our Archbishop

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Jesus told his disciples: “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation.” (Mk 16:15) This mission, given to each of us as members of the Church, underlies the way we live as Catholics. It is in light of this mission that I write to you regarding “The Archdiocesan Annual Appeal.”  Our generous giving to the Annual Appeal enables our Archdiocesan Church to let the light of our faith shine before all people.  Individual and corporate good works of our faith community are possible through your giving.

Individually, the generous donations of our resources are an act of gratitude to God. They say thank you to God for all the blessings we have received from our Lord.  They are also an act of love toward God, for the talents and treasures we have received. These enable us to earn the resources from which we can make an offering to God.

Your generosity enables the Church to empower other members of our faith community to make use of their time, talents, and treasures towards carrying out the Church’s mission.  Religious education resources, lay ministry formation leaders, youth ministry, pastoral care workers in our health care facilities, and seminarians, are some of the many vocations your gift supports. Your donations also support ministries to First Nation communities, and help families through agencies such as Visitation House or Catholic Family Services.

The book of James provides us with a message:  “If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food and one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,’ and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.”  Because of your generous contributions over the years, we in the Archdiocese of Regina can give thanks; for our faith has been supported by many good works.

Please prayerfully consider the needs presented in our brochure and determine what you will share from the bounty with which God has blessed you. I thank you for your contribution, and ask that you join all the faithful of our Archdiocese in praying for the success of this year’s Commitment to the Future.

This is our 100th Anniversary as a Diocese. I ask you to be generous in your support of the works of our Diocesan Church in thanks to God who has blessed us here in Southern Saskatchewan so generously for the past century.

Yours Sincerely in Christ,

Daniel J. Bohan

Archbishop of Regina
